Latacalk

General Info

PRODUCT
Latacalk Acrylic Latex Sealant is a single component, room temperature gunning, non-sag sealing compound for use in applications demanding the ultimate in adhesion and weathering.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
COMPOSITION:    Acrylic copolymer base.

APPLICATIONS:   Latacalk Acrylic Latex Sealant is a high quality permanent sealing material which finds widespread use in the following construction applications:
a)  general purpose caulking
b)  glazing
c)  weatherproofing
d)  curtain wall sealing
e)  low expansion, interior and exterior joints

This material will not sag in vertical or overhead joints.  The applied sealant becomes tack free in less than one hour.  The sealant continues towards a higher state of cure over a period of several weeks.  The cured sealant provides a firm, flexible barrier against air and water for extended periods of time regardless of the type of exposure it is subjected to.  A tenacious bond will be formed to all common construction materials without priming.

LIMITATIONS: Latacalk Acrylic Latex Sealant should not be used in expansion joints or any construction form where severe lateral and shear movement is expected.

PACKAGING: Latacalk Acrylic Latex Sealant is available in spouted cartridges and 20 litre pails.

STORAGE: Latacalk Acrylic Latex Sealant will remain room temperature gunable for a minimum of six months when stored in unopened containers at temperatures of 72o F or below.  Protect from freezing.

SHIPPING CLASSIFICATION: Caulking and Glazing Compound, N01.

COLOR:   Standard colors for Latacalk Acrylic Latex Sealant are:

a)  Grey
b)  White
c)  Black
d)  Bronze

INSTALLATION
JOINT DIMENSIONS:   Latacalk Acrylic Latex Sealant should not be used in joints with a great deal of movement.  All joints should be four times as wide as the maximum joint movement, and joint depth should not exceed one-half of the width.  Most common types of expansion joint filler or backing can be used with Latacalk Acrylic Latex Sealant.  Backing to which the sealant will not bond will enhance the expansion capabilities of the joint.

SURFACE PREPARATION:   Surfaces to be sealed, caulked or glazed should be clean and dry.  Loose material of all types should be eliminated.  Oily materials are detrimental to a good sealant bond.

APPLICATION:   Latacalk Acrylic Latex Sealant can be applied with hand or air-operated caulking guns, or pumped from 20 litre containers with air or hydraulic equipment.  Application is very fast and easy due to the thixotropic consistency of the material.  For optimum appearance and bond adhesion, the sealant mass should be tooled after applying.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:   Latacalk Acrylic Sealant should be stored at temperatures above 40o F.

HEALTH PRECAUTIONS:   Normal personal hygiene practices such as washing after exposure to the sealant should be observed.  The sealant may be harmful if ingested and a physician should be summoned immediately.
